Hofer and Wicki are the new Swiss Champions

Switzerland 26 Jul 2010 at 19:48 | Published by: omaggi | Views: 10393 | News search

Hofer and Wicki are the new Swiss Champions Last weekend we played the IndividualSwissChampionship in Bulle on a T5000 course.

After 1 week training with a wonderful weather, the first 2 days of competition offered bad weather with lots of rain interruptions. For this reason the total tournament was played on a total of only 10 rounds, instead of 12.

The tournament was played on a general high level but there was also room for some surprise.

In the kids categorie, after a long battle, the title was won by the 12 year old Elia Pontalli from MC Bellinzona. For Elia this was only the second important tournament in his life, after have played the also in the Swiss Team Championship of Ligue B in Wohlen last June.

After a difficult beginning, Elia played very well in the second and in the third day and he won over Beat Wartenweiler from MC Romanshorn and the Swiss Champion of 2008 Joel Mumenthaler from MC Neuendorf.

In the Junior Men categorie the winning was a battle of 3 players: Andreas Schneider (MC Eichholz Gerlafingen), Nikolai Bhend (MC Neuendorf) and Daniel Moser (MC Hofmatt-Worb). Andreas was for all the tournament the leader and so at the end he won the title; second place for Nikolai and third for Daniel.

As last year in Studen, in the Junior Girls categorie, the match was between Manuela Bamert from EC Bern-Enge and Bettina Bürki from MC Neuendorf. Also this time the desisive moment was on the last lane. Manuela won the title with only 2 points of advantage of Bettina.

In the Old-Timers Women categorie, as in the last years, the title was given to Esther Wicki from MC Effretikon. Esther had some problems during the first day, but after that she played incredible well and in the second day she played 90 in 4 rounds.

The Old-Timers Men the European Champion of 2009 Reinhard Zengaffingen from MC Rhone, won the title after a good second part of tournaments. The 3 Home Players from MC Bulle Christian Kurzen, Pierre Kostinger and Claude Pochon end the tournament on 2nd, 4th and 5th place.

Also in the woman categorie the winner was a European Champion. In fact here won Sandra Wicki from MC Effretikon before Melanie Blaser from MC Olten and Rebecca Weber from MC Effretikon. The battle for the second place, was ended at lane 18 in the last round. Melanie played 2 points better than Rebecca.

Samuel Hofer from MC Eichholz Gerlafingen confirm his ability to play on a T5000 course, in fact after the winning in the Swiss Championship in Brigels in 2006, won also this year with the best results of the tournaments. Samuel played 225 points in 10 rounds and did the new record on 4 rounds with 86.

After a good tournament Reto Sommer from Mc Burgdorf ended on the second position and Michel Pfister from MC Amriswil ended at the third.

Here the top 10 players of the tournament:

1. Samuel Hofer (MC Eichholz Gerlafingen) 225
2. Reto Sommer (MC Burgdorf) 230
3. Reinhard Zengafingen (MC Rhone) 235
4. Michel Pfister (MC Amriswil) 236
5. Mike Mann (BGS Hardenberg) 240
6. Esther Wicki (MC Effretikon) 240
7. Omar Maggi (MC Olten) 241
8. Michel Rhyn (MC Olten) 241
9. Christian Kurzen (MC Bulle) 243
10. Vitus Spescha (MC Olten) 245

Nothing to worry Smitty - as an neighbour (Austrian) I also don´t know what T5000 is. I quess it is Eternit also known as (Miniaturegolf or. Abt. 2) on an beton surface. So all the lovely obstacles like Net, Labyrinth, Volcano, Pyramids etc. on another surface. Am I right?
