This years European Championships for the general classes started today in Italian Predazzo. The concrete courses are told be quite diificult, which also the results showed, lowest score on 1 round was 25, played by Autsrian Heinz Weber, who is also top ranked in the mens category, just ahead of German Miro Stoparic. On the eternite course, there was several blue rounds scored, but the only round of 18 was played by Swedens Peter Eisenschmidt.

In the ladies category, there were only 2 rounds under 30 on the concrete courses, although they only played 1 round of concrete today. Especially the German ladies had big problems with the tricky lanes, even if they played better at the eternite courses. Melanie Blaser from Switzerland is top ranked and so far she plays in her own division, 5 strokes ahead of a couple of players.

In the mens team competition, Germany leads, 10 strokes ahead of Austria and 12 more ahead of Switzerland. Only the Swedes managed to beat Germany in one of the rounds, when they played a round of 123 ( 20,50) on the eternite round, 2 better than the Germans.

In the ladies team competition, Switzerland have taken the lead, 8 strokes before Austria. Germany and Sweden are tied for the 3rd place, 6 more strokes behind.

Strange ranking order in the individual results, wrong settings in Bangolf Arena or what?

Marc is still one stroke short of the British eternit record - Jon Angel played 22 in Canegrate 2007. Also, GB record on concrete is 28, but played on the somewhat easier Waldshut course in 2009 by Rocky Bullin.

Still, congrats to both GB players in their first experience on eternit & concrete courses.

Grats to you Peter. I hope to join you in that performance tomorrow.
2 new national records was made today and by the same player.
Marc Chapman started off with Brittish eternit record (23) and continued his fine play with another Brittish record on concrete with 38. Very nicely done, Marc.

Interesting watching the Live Results coming in. congrats to Peter Eisenschmidt for his 18.

Well played to Gran Bretagna's Marc 'The Force' Chapman and Alan 'Stormin'' Norman (ably assisted by Coach Green).

Good luck for the rest of the event.
