Like all the years, in the middle of November many good players from all around Europe come to Bassersdorf to play the 30 hours marathon.
This year we had 52 teams coming from Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Finland.
It has been a very high level tournament, with 13 teams under 27 average on 24 rounds, which is much better than the previous year, when with a 27 average a top ten place was almost sure.
Finally, after two second places (in 2008 after a playoff with the team Neuland/Sturm), the team made by two MC Olten players, Vitus Spescha and Cedric Mathys , could grab the victory just with the last 23-round. Before the last round they were 3 strokes behind the team Kreutter / Fischer which was surprisingly leading the tournament since the 16th round. The winning team had a total score of 621 strokes (25,875 avg) .
Vitus has won the tournament several times in the past with his previous mate Guy Vuillomenet, for Cedric this is the first victory in this tournament.
In 3rd place the Austrian team formed by Michael Gebetshammer / Reinhard Schuster which usually get top places in this tournaments: their total score was 628 strokes (26,167 avg) .
After the top-3 teams we have other 8 teams with some of the top European players, very close each other (just 10 strokes - in 24 rounds - between the 4th and the 11th team):
4 Schibli Eduard / Bürgin Renè 632 (26,333)
5 Rhyn Michel / Maggi Omar 632 (26,333)
6 Greiffendorf Lars / Szablikowski Andrè 635 (26,458)
7 Stoparic Miro / Spreyer Sascha 637 (26,542)
8 Neuland Michael / Sturm Jochen 638 (26,583)
9 Jäck Christopher / Mark Sascha 640 (26,667)
10 Porta Paolo / Santopietro Claudio 641 (26,708)
11 Nuotio Marko / Nolte Norbert 642 (26,750)
The best round of the tournament is a 21 and has been played by the youngest Daniel Moser.
5 times 22 played by the teams Kreutter / Fischer, Schibli / Bürgin, Arlitt / Müller, Dellasega / Arzuffi and Vögeli / Schibli
Some last words about this tournament: this is one of the most prestigious tournaments in minigolf winter and it is probably the only one major tournament of the minigolf season without any internet coverage and update of results. It would be really appreciated by many people if this tournament could have an internet coverage of the event. » Results

16 Nov 2010 at 09:08 | First of all congrats to Vitus and Cedy for taking the victory on the last metres of the marathon. All the respect also to Bernhard and Heinz for being almost there.
To the issue of using Bangolf Arena, even I surely am a big fan of it. However we must in every situation remember that the most important thing is to guarantee the tournament to flow without any technical delays. If the organizers don't see themselves in position to handle the small extra work of giving in the results (according to my calculation we had 24 x 18 x 52 = 22.464 lane results last weekend, giving roughly 12,5 lane results (22.464 : 30 hrs : 60 min) per minute we spent playing), then we should however respect it.
Like Paolo said, BA is a very good tool for checking that the results are correct, since that should be done somehow anyway! Let's hope it doesn't take too long before mobile scorecards will come to other tournaments than the big championships too...that'll take off all the work of checking the scores and arranging the scorecards...
Padi is right about the fact that unfortunately it sometimes took quite a long time to get some groups to start. Then often these are the same players who complain that the tournament is going too slowly. But it is a fact that it really does matter for the pace of the tournament whether you wait for your next lane on the course or leave four lanes empty at the start to avoid queues for your group, which is the slower option of the two for the complete tournament. |

15 Nov 2010 at 15:05 | Not constantly. If you have to wait a lot during the round (because of a slow group), you can be sure, that your break will be short. In the past (not this year) I had a lot of rounds where I could go directly from the 18th to the 1st lane. |

15 Nov 2010 at 15:03 | hi patrick
it would be good not only for home spectators to see results with bangolf, but also for players during the tournament because now you see result updated to the round before the one you have played.
I use Bangolf Arena since 4 years for my tournaments and I can assure you that it doesn't take more than 2 minutes to insert the results hole-by-hole for each group, the program is really easy and quick to use. You can do at the same time that you make the score-check (it also helps the control).
Then with an internet connection (also low speed) and a monitor on the course you can give a great service both to player and to spectators!
About round break...this year the tournament was quite slow and I had always not less than 15 minutes break...

15 Nov 2010 at 14:55 | 5 minutes break ...
the breaks were more than 10 minutes. |

15 Nov 2010 at 14:24 | It was already discussed to use Bangolf Arena. We know, that it would be much easier for the players to see their statistics with one click. But, don't forget, that usually you have not more than 5 minutes break between the rounds. So in that time, you have to put the result into the computer, arrange the playing cards and searching for the players which are not ready (there's still a lot) for the next round.
If we have more helpers (imagine that only 6 players from Kloten are to be free for playing) than this year and we can guarantee that we wont get any delays because of using Bangolf Arena it's possible that we'll use it in 2011. |

Sorry, I haven't seen that 21 in the result list. I will correct in the article. Thanks for the info.
@nobby
Yes, nothing special is asked. Using Bangolf Arena would be also much better for players and spectators "on the ground" because now you see the results also on the course with one round delay. |

15 Nov 2010 at 13:11 | Yes, internet coverage with Bangolf Arena program would be very nice. Somebody should contact MC Grindel Kloten and ask about it. |
