WMF follows EMF regarding double individual title
03 Feb 2011 at 15:52 | Published by: | Views: 11766 | News search | source: WMF
During last meeting of WMF Technical Committee, which has been held in Stockholm (Sweden) past 28th/30th January, some very important decisions have been taken by the TC members.
The most important one is that also World Championships 2011 in Stockholm (Sweden) and Youth World Championships 2011 in Naturns (Italy) will assign two individual titles. The new formula will be:
- 2 days for team tournament
- 1 day for stroke play final (all players will play 2 rounds + 2 rounds for best 15 male and 9 ladies players)
- 1 day for match play "super final" (best 32 men and 16 ladies after 8th round in the 3rd day)
So WMF immediately follows EMF decision about the new championship playing modus.
Some other important decisions has been taken: expecially the fact that the first World Adventuregolf Masters will take place at 13./14.May 2011 in Hastings / UK.

10 Feb 2011 at 23:43 | I can't believe that some of you really like this formula! First of all, most important for most of us is the team competition. Now there are only 6 rounds in stead of 8! "DON'T LIKE"!!! Then from my point of view having two individual champions every year means "winning medals" is losing its value. Don't you agree?
Shouldn't we try to have the best player of the whole tournament getting the one gold medal at the end of the championships? That's what a WC's good for!

07 Feb 2011 at 08:52 | I think it's a substantial progress and it's the chance to make our sport more attractive. Many sports do have some different field events (eg swimming) - why not in Minigolf too?! It's great to give this change a try! |

06 Feb 2011 at 21:05 | 4 days of tournement, 2 days single tournement... really? you like it? Why we don't play team match play ;-) ? But, of course, medals hope for everyone! Good job - in ten yours we get medals for the most aces in a row, for the best single round result or for the first 18 on the places. How stupid is it??
I hope we all are reasonable enough to stop this nonsense!!!!

It should be like that. |

04 Feb 2011 at 15:54 | So to clarify the qualification limits, I understand that:
- everyone will play 3 rounds on day 1, and 3 rounds on day 2, and 2 rounds on day 3
- 9 best women and 15 best men play 2 final rounds on day 3, to decide strokeplay medals
- 16 best women and 32 best men (after 8 or 10 rounds, makes no difference!) play a knock-out cup on day 4, to decide matchplay medals |

04 Feb 2011 at 15:52 | Hi Janne,
now it's clear...thanks.
I'll modify that in the article. |

04 Feb 2011 at 15:07 | Small misunderstanding, maybe the newsflash from WMF was not perfectly clear...Day 1: 3 rounds. Day 2: 3 rounds. Day 3: 2 rounds + 2 rounds (9 women and 15 men). Day 4: Matchplay (16 women + 32 men qualified after 8 rounds) |

04 Feb 2011 at 14:02 | Hi Janne,
thanks for the note.
----------------
I have written this news but now I was thinking about this: how is it possible to play a "matchplay" tournament with 15 men and 9 ladies ? I think it should be 16-8... |
