International Women’s Day (IWD), observed on March 8, honors the achievements of women worldwide and advocates for their rights. Originating from early 20th-century suffrage movements, IWD has evolved into a powerful platform for promoting gender equality. From rallies to strikes, women have used IWD to amplify their voices and effect change.
One such example of amplification comes from Sweden where for nearly three decades the country has come alive in March with a spirited tradition that celebrates women’s camaraderie, skill, and shared passion. This event is none other than the Women’s Five, where women from all walks of life gather to compete, bond, and create lasting memories. The 29th running will be held March 9-10 in Borås.
Open to participants aged 15 and above, this year will see 55 women play in 9 teams. Each team represents a different region of Sweden: 3 from the West, 2 from the South, 2 from the Middle, and 1 each from the East and Middle-North. Seasoned players who have clinched World Championships stand shoulder-to-shoulder with newcomers experiencing their first taste of competitive play. The spirit of mentorship and collaboration thrives as players share tips, laughter, and encouragement. As the teams vie for victory, they also foster a sense of community and mutual support. Scoring for the tournament can be found at this link starting the evening of March 8.
Good luck to all the women playing in this event and we are thankful for all of our women minigolf athletes! » Original Article on WMF Site » International Women's Day
