Germany took gold, Sweden silver, and Switzerland bronze in both team competitions, men and women.
In women’s competition the three top teams were within 9 points before the last double round.
Germany was strongest in the tight battle, taking their seventh team gold in a row.
Sweden landed second, 13 points behind Germany and 4 points ahead of the bronze team Switzerland.
Always dangerous women’s team of Netherlands was 4th, 26 points behind the bronze medalists.
Last year’s silver team Austria was left 5th, one point behind Netherlands. More clearly behind the leading teams,
Latvia was 6th, Finland 7th, Russia 8th and the all-rookie team of Ukraine 9th.
In men’s competition Sweden had the strongest start, leading Germany by one point after 4 rounds.
A weak beton round 181 in the fifth round allowed the Germans to take
a clear and safe lead, which they kept to the end.
Switzerland and Austria had tied points after 6 rounds, some 20 points behind Sweden.
Switzerland took a 4 points lead against Austria in the 7th round on eternite, and then
secured the bronze medal with a superb beton round 163,
one of the best team rounds in the tournament. Austria finished in 4th place,
18 points behind Switzerland.
Also Finland was within attack range from the medals,
15 points behind Austria, landing on 5th place.
More clearly behind the leading teams, Netherlands was 6th, Denmark 7th, and Russia 8th.
