Allan Schwab, from Aalborg Minigolf Klub, took his 5th victory in a row at the winter tournament at Nord-Als Minigolf Klub’s outdoor eternit course. The tournament was played on Saturday 17th of January.
Temperatures were about 2 degrees Celsius in an increasing humidity that turned out in a little rain during the tournament. This meant very cold lanes and balls.
It was the smallest margin of victory in years for Allan. He won with only 1 point ahead of Leif Meitilberg of Odense Minigolf Club who was 2 points ahead of Ole Rasmussen from Putter Team Odense.
The tournament is known as a social meeting place for minigolf players in Denmark. It’s a good chance to get together during winter time. Because it is outdoor it means playing with the cold cold weather and a large amount of winterclothing as extra challenges. It was noticeable in the results. Allan played with an average of 25,4 which is 4,3 more than his average as he won the spring tournament in May 2008 at the same course.
18 players had “volunteered” to play this competition, which was the 14th in a row of its kind. Afterwards some soup and a sausage were served for the players who probably were looking foreward to a good nights sleep after a cold and challenging day.
