Raphael Wietlisbach won the “group elimination final” of Bodensee Cup 2009, played at the beton course of Romanshorn, Switzerland.
All participants first played 3 qualification rounds, to decide the winners of categories (men, women, juniors, seniors etc.). Senior player Peter Weber was clearly the best in the preliminary rounds, with average score 26.67. The second best average 29.00 was played by men’s winner Samuel Hofer and women’s winner Jacqueline Arlitt.
After the 3 preliminary rounds, all 95 participants of the competition continued a knock-out cup, player vs. player. The players were divided into 8 separate cup diagrams: the winner of each cup diagram qualified to the final round.
The final round, between the winners of the 8 cup diagrams, was played with “group elimination” rules. Starting at lane 1, all 8 players played as one group. At each lane, the player with worst lane score (and equals) fell from the competition (but not if everyone played the same score). This continued until only one player was left: the winner.
Results of the group elimination final:
1. Raphael Wietlisbach
2. Peter Weber
3. Samuel Hofer
4. Jacqueline Arlitt
