This weekend the 11th International competition was played at the newly painted beton courses in Skoghall. This year the tournament was also selected as one of the three tournaments specially selected by the national head couches to select the national teams for juniors, general class and old-timers later this summer.
As usual the home club is often in the top positions in this tournament and in the men’s class this was especially clear with all three podium positions going to Skoghall. The winner was Ulf Kristiansson part of the Swedish Team in Tampere in 2008 and one of the best beton players in Sweden. He scored a really impressive 26,5 average and won with a margin of 3 strokes before his Norwegian team mate Lars Kvael 27,0. In third place came the former Swedish National Team player Stefan Björk with 27,4 in average, 5 strokes after Ulf.
In the ladies class it was a close game between Sandra Bengtsson, Uppsala and Maria Olsson, Jönköping. Maria won with only one stroke but it was a thriller into the end. Sandra had a good grip leading by 4 strokes until the balcony (lane 15) last round. But a five on that lane and a two on the last lane made it possible for Maria to spurt alongside and ahead with one stroke. Maria had an average of 30,5. The third position was shared between Tuula Mörk of Myresjö and Emma Löf of Tantogården both of them quite long behind the top two players.
The winners in some other classes where:
Boy Juniors: Sebastian Mårtensson, Skoghall (29,0)
Girl Juniors: Sara Karlsson, Olofström, (30,8)
Oldtimer Men: Jan-Åke Persson, Sjöviken (28,3)
Oldtimer Ladies: Linda Lundberg, Gullbergsbro (28,5)
