Paolo Porta wins a cold tournament in Rapallo

Rapallo is a nice seaside resort on the Ligurian sea but during last weekend it looked more like a mountain resort. Cold weather, about 5°C, strong wind and rain in the end hosted the last outdoor tournament of the italian season, the "Tigullio international trophy" played on historical concrete course that hosted Senior European Championships in 1985.» Results
Despite the rather difficult conditions, the results were quite good.
After the 3 rounds, the victory in men elite category went to Paolo Porta (MGC Novi Ligure) with 81 strokes.
Paolo started with a good 25 with all aces from lane 10 to 18 in the first round that gave him an advantage that he could defend in the other two rounds with a 30 and a 26. Paolo confirms a good feeling with Rapallo course, where he had won also a national tournament in March.
Second place for Andrea Bergaglio (MSC San Romolo) with 83 strokes (28-27-28), third for Stefano Piccini (MT Amatese) with 84 strokes (28-30-26) and fourth for Rudi Giroldini (GSP Vergiate) with 89 strokes.
A very good performance also in the ladies elite category, with Paola Tecchio (GSP Vergiate) that won the tournament with 85 strokes (27-31-27), with a very big advantage on all the other players.
The team tournament has been won by MSC San Romolo (Campora, Bergaglio, Conte, Fiorinelli) with 246 strokes on MGC Novi Ligure (Porta, Porta, Cucchi, Vaienti) with 250 strokes. 3rd place for MT Amatese (Piccini, Costasio, Diotti, Tenconi) with 254 strokes after a playoff with ASDMC Follonica.
Winners of the other categories are:
- Antonio Goiorani (ASDMC Follonica) in the senior men category with 88 strokes
- Ornella Campora (MSC San Romolo) in the senior ladies category with 95 strokes
- Daniele Diotti (MT Amatese) in the youth category with 111 strokes
The last tournament of italian season 2010 will take place next weekend in Vedano al Lambro indoor course, the 5th "international trophy Cittŕ di Vedano".
