Exciting teamgolf tournament in Holland
Players at midhill.  (Photo by Roel Groenhuijsen 2011)

Last Saturday the Dutch minigolf federation organised a new form of tournament 2vs2. Hereby are two players one couple and they play like one person. Player A starts on lane one en scores an ace, player B doesn't have to play that lane. Then player B starts on lane two he/she has to put for a two, then thereafter player A may try to score better on that lane.

Fifty couples subscribed for this tournament played over four rounds and for the best twenty couples there was a final round. The differences between the couples were very close.

After four rounds the first place was surprisingly for Marga Huisman and Enne de Haan (both The Putters) with 80 strokes (22-20-18-20) just before the big favorites Roel Groenhuijsen (Hole Ridders) and Wilbert van Helmond (Duno)with 81 strokes (20-20-20-21). The third place was for two couples: Alex Jasper (Dormagen-Brechten) with Paulien Visser (Leeuwarden) and Remon Verveer with Tom Pardaans (both Hole Ridders) with 82 strokes (20-20-20-22) and (19-21-22-20). Also place five was for two couples: Anja Derks (The Vrije Slag) with Natasja Klarenbeek (Leeuwarden) and Martin Mulder (The Vrije Slag) with René Bos (Oirschot) with 84 strokes (20-19-23-22) and (21-20-20-23).

During the final round the leading couple had some difficulties and finished with a score of 23 and they went down to place four. Roel Groenhuijsen and Wilbert van Helmond made a profit of this and they finfished with 20 and won with a total of 101 strokes. Alex Jasper with Paulien Visser and Remon Verveer with Tom Pardaans finished both with 20, so they had to play sudden death and this was won by Alex Jasper with Paulien Visser. Place five was for Martin Mulder and René Bos after a score of 20 just befor Anja Derks and Natasja Klarenbeek. They finished with a score of 21.
