Sweden and maybe also the world's best minigolf club, Uppsala BGK took their ninth straight title in the Swedish Elitserien this weekend. This time it was decided on the tough eternit lanes of Södertälje in hot summer warmth.
Even though the Uppsala teams are clearly the best in Sweden this time they had to face 6 losses out of 21 in the series which by their standards are far from top performance. Nevertheless in the end of the day they were winners by 5 points in front of Tantogården, the team of the weekend, with a 6 straight wins spurt could secure the silver and hence a place in the Europacup.
But the real excitement was in the other end of the table. Before the final matches (round 21) five teams could actually face having to leave the series next year. In the end the new comer Tuve had to leave the league in seventh position on 18 points, which has probably never happened before. Sjöviken was in last place with 17 points. And in third place we find Skoghall with 20 points. So in the end we find 6 teams between 20 and 17 points. This is a clear proof that the pre-series-predictions upfront this year was right that we were to see ha very though series with many teams beating each other.
Best player of the weekend was:
1 Filip Johansson, Skoghalls BGK, 22,1
2 Fredrik Persson, Uppsala BGK, 22,3
3. Andreas Frejborn, Tuve Tigers BGK, 22,3
4 Anders Olsson, Uppsala BGK, 22,3
5 Lars Kvael, Skoghalls BGK, 22,5
