Miniature Golf and Food - Part 1

In the United States, playing a round of miniature golf and following it up with an ice cream cone might be more of pairing than peanut butter and jelly. However, the combination of food and miniature golf doesn’t end with just sugary delights. Many places throughout the United States and Europe have found that pairing miniature golf with a good meal (and/or a few drinks!) appeals to a wide range of customers. Whether you come for the putting and stay for a drink, or come for a meal and decide to hit a round after dinner, the social aspect of these courses is skyrocketing. Especially in an era where movie tickets are increasingly expensive, “dinner and a round” might replace “dinner and a movie” as the go-to date night. Today we'll be looking at two indoor courses that match food/drink and minigolf.

The first course we're highlighting is the H Street Country Club in Washington, D.C., USA. This was one of the first bar & minigolf establishments The Putting Penguin came across in their quest to play courses. It features a Washington/politics themed course and you can have a drink while playing a round! It's definitely aligned to help the go-go political workers in the US unwind after a long day.

The second course we're highlighting is the Plonk indoor course, specifically the one at The Duke of Edinburgh's Pub in Brixton (London), England. It's situated in the beer garden at the pub and is over 18 only, showing that this course isn't for kids! The course has it's own Tiki Bar which provides the needed beverages right to the course. The Crazy World of Minigolf Tour recently visited this course as well.

Don’t think this is reserved for casual putters either – we have it on good authority that pros from around the world have visited the two establishments above! While the style of these types of courses are designed for fun over competition, it illustrates how accessible the sport of minigolf is to all walks of life and can be a good inroad to getting more players into the competitive side of the game.

Do you know an interesting restaurant/bar/minigolf establishment in your country? Reach out to us with some details and we may feature it in up coming articles.
