The last weekend in January every year brings many pairs of minigolfers to the beautiful indoor Minigolf course in Bassersdorf, Switzerland. The 80% indoor concrete course was built back in 1981, but still is a great course to play tournaments on. In 2020 the participation field consists of 48 pairs from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Finland and Sweden. This tournament is a teamgolf, which means that in every round each player of a pair has to play 9 lanes first and on maximum 8 lanes in each round the pair can try to improve the result. This format means very low scores are expected over the 7 rounds of play.
The was confirmed as early as the first round when the Swiss pair Friedli/Lödding played the round for a 20. The next pairs were not far behind, only 1-2 shots. From round two the competition was mainly between Sommer/Blendermann (Mainz), Ruch/Mark (Burgdorf) and Leitner/Pfister (Schruns/Klaus). Wietlisbach/Anderegg played 19 in round 5, but could not continue on the same level and finished in the end on the 6th place with a total score of 162 (average 23.1). On the fifth place Friedli/Lödding with 161 (23 in average) and on the fourth place Käser/Wartenweiler (Burgdorf/Gerlafingen) with 160 (average 22.9). On the bronze place the Swiss pair Geri Leitner and Daniela Pfister, representing the Austrian Clubs Schruns and Klaus with a total score of 157 (average 22.4). With the same score Reto Sommer and Stefanie Blendermann landed on the silver place. The winners of the 2020 edition of the International Teamgolf in Bassersdorf, Switzerland are Bruno Ruch and Sascha Mark representing Burgdorf. The had a score of 151 shots and an average of 21.6.
This tournament mode is a lot of fun, since you really play together with your partner and you have the chance to correct bad results. For this reason the tournament fits also perfectly to beginners and players not so familiar with playing concrete. I warmly recommend you to try the tournament next year!
The organization team from the club Grindel Kloten did as usually a great job and would certainly be glad to welcome also new pairs next year in January.
