The Italian League 2013 has started this weekend with the first day on the indoor concrete course in Vedano al Lambro.
This year the league start with a couple of new actors: two foreign players that decided to play for italian teams: Christian Göbetz , coming from Austria to play for GSP Vergiate, and Philippe Lheritier , coming from France to play for MC Monza.
Vergiate and Monza were probably the favourite teams for the men victory, Vergiate being the best italian team since many years and now could only be better with Christian; Monza being the home teams for this day.
Despite of that, the club that got a "double" in this day has been GSP Cusano , that won both the male teams and ladies teams event.
It is not big surprise for the ladies victory, obtained with a big margin of 23 strokes and with a great perfomance of 228 strokes (25,3 average, much better than also all male teams), with home team MC Monza in second place and MMC Paderno in third. GSP is 4th with a new team made of young players.
Final rankings of the ladies event:
1 G.S.P. CUSANO 77 72 79 228 25,3 12 pts.
2 M.C.. MONZA 85 86 80 251 27,9 9 pts.
3 M.M.C. PADERNO 87 81 87 255 28,3 7 pts.
4 G.S.P. VERGIATE 92 84 91 267 29,7 5 pts.
Is is a surprise instead the victory in the male event.
This has been a very close match, with the three teams playing on the same level for all the tournament.
GSP Vergiate started a little bit better in the first round with one stroke advantage on Cusano and Monza.
In the second round GSP Cusano placed the best round of the day with 152 (4x25, 2x 26) and took a small lead on GSP Vergiate (1 stroke) and MC Monza (7 strokes).
The third round saw a big comeback from Monza with a 23 by Lheritier and a 24 by Pinton. Vergiate has to replace Roberto Garbui with his brother Domenico after 8 lanes. At a certain stage of the rounds, all the three teams had the same score.
Right in the last lanes, the two last players of Cusano, Emanuele Prestinari and Pierluigi Marchiani, placed some decisive aces that allowed their team to get 3 strokes advantage on both Vergiate and Monza. Cusano point of force has been the regularity of scores, with only two "blue" rounds but only 4 rounds over 26.
A playoff had to be played to decide 2nd place, and Monza won it at lane 1.
The other three teams, GSP Lozza, MT Amatese and SV Lana could not compete in any way with the best three teams.
This is the complete ranking of male event:
