This weekend was the first out of 3 round-robin weekends, where all 8 teams meet each other over a weekend, in the Swedish Elitserien. This time the start was due on the Skoghall beton course which of course put some pressure on the home team, this year strengthen by the national team player Filip Johansson joining the club.
But as so many other years it was the main favourites Uppsala that took the early grip of things. As usual the managed to play at a consistent high level by that winning some easy matches but they also managed to win the close battles (+3 against Södertälje, +1 against home team Skoghall and then +2 on Sunday against Tantogården).
But there is one team that Uppsala last year had minus statistics against and that is last year’s silver medallist of Kungälv. Kungälv had a very disappointing weekend the first six matches with only 3 points and a last position in the table. But the last game against Uppsala the boys from west Sweden managed to find their winning game again and when Uppsala made a really bad score of 152 it was an easy win for Kungälv. So on the last 4 games between Kungälv and Uppsala, Kungälv leads by 3-1.
Second in the table behind Uppsala in the lead with 12 points is quite surprisingly the new comer from Tuve (Gothenburg). Despite have the experts against them they managed to win 8 points and is now second in a very close table where there are 7 teams between 8 and 4 points.
In third place is always struggling Tantogården team that somehow always seems to be involved in many close battles. This time they won 7 points after have these close margins in their games (+1, -5, +2, 0, +12, -2, -1). Also on 7 points are the second new comer of Sundsvall and also Sjöviken.
At sixth position with six points we find a quite disappointing weekend for home team of Skoghall. Even though they had the second best team average the only won 3 games.
Best individually was Anders Olsson, Uppsala with 26,8 (playing six matches to the end) in average and second was Karin Wiklund with 27,2 (playing five matches to the end). Just behind Anders and Karin there was one player that has been a rising star player for some years now, Andreas Frejborn of Tuve Tigers, and this weekend he got a major breakthrough in the highest division with a fine third position in the straight list. He shared this position with Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala and Gustav Björnberg, Tantogården all tree had 27,4 in average.
The team of the week is:
1. Anders Olsson, Uppsala, 26,8
2. Karin Wiklund, Uppsala, 27,2
3. Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala, 27,4
4. Andreas Frejborn, Tuve Tigers, 27,4
5. Gustav Björnberg, Tantogården, 27,4
Next round will be played in Sundsvall on felt the 8-9th of June.
In the div 1 south the lead was surprisingly taken by Olofström on the beton course in Askim. In the div 1 North the lead was more expectedly taken by Örebro at the felt course in Enköping.
