Preview Austrian Bundesliga 2009 - Ladies

Austria 27 Feb 2009 at 10:28 | Published by: bub74 | Views: 6638 | News search

Preview Austrian Bundesliga 2009 - Ladies This weekend Austrian Bundesliga 2009 is continued at the indoor course in Eferding. The first round was also played in the same region in Steyr on concrete. The following gatherings will be in Knittelfeld (beton) and Wasserpark (Felt) (each 2 days). At the end there will be 3 rounds concrete, 2 rounds felt and just one round eternit. Also the Austrian championship will be played on concrete this year. Some might argue that it's not the best preparation for WC.

In women's class there will be a tough battle between the reigning champions, Knittelfeld versus the "new" challenger WAT21. The first round was won by Knittelfeld, which gives a small advantage for the complete season. In this competition, in Eferding, WAT21 will be the big favourites. The trio of Konrad (almost a home player), Gruber and Schuster are all very good eternit players.

The success of Knittelfeld will be much about getting Andrea Hackl back into Youth WC shape. Also important will be the double round on felt, where Knittelfeld might have some advantages with Berger-Rella and Jirowsky in their team. Winning there twice would maybe be enough to defend their title.

The favourites for the bronze would be Rot-Gold and maybe they could put some pressure on the top two teams lead by the young and very talented Heschl sisters.
