Return match Belgium - The Netherlands

World 29 Mar 2009 at 23:06 | Published by: Santa | Views: 7114 | News search

Return match Belgium - The Netherlands Finally the return match of Belgium vs The Netherlands has been played in Appelscha. It was the second time this match was planned, in october 2008 it was impossible to play due to bad weather. Today the weather was better as they tried to play again.

After the first weekend, played in Belgium, the Dutch ladies were in leading by 22 shots (675-697). In the mens category Belgium was leading with 53 shots (1434-1487).

The Dutch ladies opened with 169-175 in the first round and during the second round the gap between both teams became a lot bigger (158-190). After four rounds the gap was 113 shots, so The Netherlands won with 1367 agains 1498 for the Belgian ladies.

In the mens category it was more exciting. The Belgium men lost the first round with only 3 strokes 389-386, but during the second round the difference was a lot bigger in favour of the Dutch (399-357). After the third round the Dutch men took the overall lead by winning this round 388-378. In the last round it looked like nothing could go wrong for the Dutch team. But due to a very strong end of the Belgian players the difference in the end was only 1 stroke, in favour of Blgium (2981-2982).
