Tomorrow the 18th of April is the start of a completely new idea being tested in Minigolf. At the MOS course in Slottskogen, Gothenburg owned by Askim BGK a series of qualifying competition is started ending up in a final the 19th of September this year. In the final first prize is a Peugeot 308 worth approximately 15.000 Euro.
Each qualifying competition can hold maximum 54 players. You sign up and pay (in the near future by credit card) on internet at the site www.solterassen.se and there you could also see how many is registered for the next 2 weeks competitions. At 08:00 each Saturday during the summer you will be served breakfast at the cafeteria included in the signup fee of approximately 30 Euro. Then at 9 o’clock the participants play one round through mass start and then the competition is ended. The five best results each week is qualified for the final. If you miss out from the five it’s open to try again next week.
This competition will be played with a loaned club and a golf ball only. It will be open to both public and to licensed players. Each Friday there will be advertises in the local newspaper, GP, about the competition to attract the public to the tournament.
One of the men behind this idea is Said Morell, strong man of Askim BGK and known also from the WMF board. He hopes that many Minigolf players and even more from the public signs up for the tournaments. He says that he is aware that there will maybe not be full competitions in the beginning since the season has just started in Sweden. And his tip is therefore to sign up for an early competition since it will probably be easier to qualify for the final from these early spring competitions.
