Csaba and Berger-Rella win Sochi Open
10 Oct 2009 at 22:11 | Published by: Hans | Views: 10614 | News search
The Moscow player Sergey Kovylyaev was clearly the best in preliminary rounds of the Sochi Open. His margin to Hannes Hahsler, Knittelfeld, Austria was no less than 13 strokes.
By being the best of all on the tricky MOS Betong Course with an average of 28,3 and the second best on the real though new eternit course with an average of 23,3 he was in a class of his own.
Third in preliminary rounds was Csaba Pálinkás, Hungary one stroke behind Hannes and fourth came Markus Berger of Austria one stroke behind Csaba.
In the ladies competition the world number one player Elisabeth Berger-Rella of Wien, Austria was also she in a class of her own. This was due to strong play on the Betong since she was actually 11 strokes behind the best player overall on eternit Natalia Machekhina of Moscow with a fine average of 23,0. But Natalia has really much problems on the Beton course with an average of 38,4 giving Elisabeth the victory. Tatiana Chesnova, Sochi, Russia was third six strokes behind Natalia.
After the preliminary rounds, the competition ended with matchplay finals, in which Csaba Pálinkás took victory in men, and Elisabeth Berger-Rella in women. » Results » Photo Gallery on Sochi Homepage » video of the competition (video no. 1)

Sochi-2014 (Evgeny Kaplun) |
11 Oct 2009 at 22:30 | Sure, Pasi, Csaba and Lisa will have their own suites: each of them has two business-class tickets (4 together) to Sochi by Austrian and our hotel will provide each of them with one-bedroom superior suites also for two people each. And if they come together and in this case if they would not mind we can organize a sudden unplanned international competition (WinterSochiOpen) with Russians who will be able to participate (I'm sure they will) with surprise prize fund again. Now we have at least eternite course under roof but outdoor - no weather fear any more.
By the way it's +24..26 in Sochi now and the sea water is +21. |

11 Oct 2009 at 18:46 | Hmmm I think next year is World champs and not European champs for juniors. The participants can turn out to be all-European though, as last time in Budapest. |

11 Oct 2009 at 11:24 | Congrats to Csaba and Lisa for their victories as well as to Sergey for his performance. Another practice trip to Sochi! I suppose Csaba and Lisa will both get their own suites! ;-)
I told many people before the competition, that Sergey will be hard to beat on the preliminary rounds. He mastered obviously the new miniaturegolf course very well, so did Natalia and Evgeny S. too. Great work from all three! That Sergey is hard to beat on the now a bit more difficult MOS concrete I know since May personally... Just happy that the competition was over before the football match yesterday. The result might have influenced Sergey's mood, since he's a great football fan. |

11 Oct 2009 at 09:10 | Now corrected, an understandable mistake as your online results service doesn't mention the matchplay scores anywhere. Great play from Kovilyaev to beat some top-class foreigners in strokeplay. | Add comment | To add comments, you need to log in.
