The success continued today for the Swiss ladies when Rebecca Weber took the individual Gold Medal after a thrilling ending in the finals. Just as back in Tampere the goddess of Luck was involved and on the Swiss side.
Rebecca started of her day by winning easily over the Swede Sandra Bengtsson with 6-1. Then she meet her Team mate Yvonne Klukas in open game with lots of give and take ending 6-4 to Rebecca. In the semifinal she was winning with relative ease over German Nicole Piechotta by 5-1.
On the other half the Austrian star Lisa Gruber started her journey to the final by beating Dutch Ilona de Kok with 4-1. In the next match she won a tight match over German Nicole Gundert-Greifendorf and then yet another Dutch, this time Natasja Klarenbeek in the semifinals.
So in the final the two ladies in red played very well, but also a match of many gives and takes. So in before the last lane on eternit Rebecca was in the lead with 5-4 and only needed to ace for victory. This straight lane with a window all players play using the “klicker” ball, and usually a hit in the doorpost means a secure two, but for Rebecca the ball got a strange spin and found its way to the hole.
A picture tells more than thousand words and we will soon publish a video of this incredible moment.
In the bronze match Nicole Piechotta won the bronze for Germany.
