Mainz takes lead in D-Bundesliga

MGC Mainz took the first place both in men’s and women’s teams,
when German Bundesliga of season 2008 started at the felt
course of Clara Zetkin Park in Leipzig.
Men’s champion of the last nine years in a row, BGS Hardenberg-Pötter,
begins this season on the 5th place in the league table.
Alexander Geist of SG Arheilgen was the best player in this shortened competition,
with an average score
30.33 after three rounds.
The best female player was Alice Kobisch of MGC Mainz, with an average score
32.50.
The competition was originally planned to have four rounds, but due to weather
conditions the number of rounds was reduced to three for men and two for women.
German Bundesliga consists of six competitions, of which two are played on felt,
two on eternite, and two on beton courses.
