Last weekend, both North and South regional championships were scheduled to take place in Portugal.
In the North regional championship, four rounds were played on Saturday (two on concrete and two on felt) however, due to the poor weather conditions, the tournament could not be resumed on Sunday and, thus, the titles were decided after these four rounds.
The CM Porto was the great winner bringing home the gold in eight of the 14 categories. Concerning the individual competition, CM Porto won the Junior (male), Youth, Senior and Oldtimers categories. The Men and Women titles went to CM Costa Nova and Junior (female) and Kids to Vizelgolfe.
A special note to Luis Silva Jr who was not only the best Junior individual player, but also the number one on the general rank! This CM Porto player will be playing for his club at the Portel 2013 championship.
Now for the team competition, Junior, Men, Senior and Oldtimers’s titles went to CM Porto, the title for Women’s team to CM Costa Nova and Youth to Vizelgolfe.
In just a few weeks, in 10 March, the national Portuguese championship will set off in this same course, in Costa Nova.
As for the South regional championship, just 3 rounds were played and only 13 players participated. The winners were Nuno Costa (MC Portugal); Lídia Santos (MC Portugal) and João Pinheiro (MC Portugal).
