The Youth German Federal States Cup (JLP in German) was held on the Eternit course in Oberthal and the Concrete course in Bliessen, both located in the German Federal State Saarland, on the 5th and 6th of April. It is a junior team competition of the federal states of Germany. The minigolf associations of any German federal state (Bundesland) can form a team of 5 or 6 juniors (male or female). If at least one female junior plays for the team and the team consists of 6 players, the worst score of each team round is cut. So only the best 5 scores per round count for the team. There were 4 rounds to go on every course.
As the winter period in Germany was exceptionally long this year and lasted until last weekend the juniors had to play with temperatures partly around the freezing point. Nevertheless some very good scores were achieved. But warm cloths were a must.
Last year's defending champion team from Bremen/Lower-Saxony was leading from the 2nd round on and never lost the lead, so they won the team competition in a convincing manner with 1055 (ø 26.4). But there was a hard fight for the 2nd place between the teams of Baden and Northrhine-Westfalia. After the first day Baden was in lead by 8 shots, but on the concrete course in Bliessen the Northrhine-Westfalian team caught up shot by shot on the 2nd day. In the 7th round they overtook and came 2nd with 1090 (ø 27.3), 6 shots ahead of the team from Baden.
Maike Haupt from Herten (Northrhine-Westfalia) could defend her title in the female kids category with 219 (ø 27.4) after a hard fight with Sarah Schumacher from Inzlingen (Baden). Maike was in lead after the first day by 3 shots and Sarah equalized in the 5th round. The lead changed then from round to round and both girls came equal at the end, so it needed a play-off to decide the winner which Maike won. Patricia Fischbeck from Göttingen (Lower Saxony) reached the 3rd place with 227 (ø 28.4). Michaela Zwirlein (on the photo) from Murnau (Bavaria) played the best round on the challenging concrete course, a 24, the only blue round. She came 4th in the competition with 229 (ø 28.6).
Kilian Horn from Hachenberg (Rhineland-Palatinate) won the male kids category with 230 (ø 28.8). Julian Möhler from Niederstetten (Württemberg) came 2nd three shots behind, followed by Benedikt Schwickert from Inzlingen (Baden) further 4 shots behind.
The female juniors category was won by Annika Dellmann from Neheim (Northrhine-Westfalia) with 212 (ø 26.5), followed by Anna Rümmelin from Inzlingen (Baden) with 219 (ø 27.4). Isabell Raschke from Diepholz (Lower Saxony) came 3rd with 226 (ø 28.3).
In the male juniors category Marc Pape and Marc-Dominik Klemm, both from Homburg (Saarland), were very close together throughout the first 7 rounds. With a phantastic 26 in the last round on the concrete course, Marc Pape took the lead at the end and won the category with 205 (ø 25.6). So Marc-Dominik Klemm finished 2nd with 208 (ø 26.0), followed by Marcel Kehr from Göttingen (Lower Saxony) only one shot behind.
