Today the Swedish Federation announced that Jesper Andersson, Skoghalls BGK, was elected "Player of the Year" of 2008. With his season, crowned by his silver medal in the EC in Tampere, it can be considered at a natural choice.
His great 2008 season is maybe even more remarkable considering that Jesper has been away from the absolute top for some years before. The combination of his favorite surface concrete, a will to try the KO-modus and a great start to the 2008 season made him announce that he was available for play in Tampere if Jan Strandberg thought he was one of the chosen.
The weeks before Tampere he was also helping the Swedish juniors as one of the coaches at JWC in Budapest. In Tampere Jesper once again showed that he has a remarkable killer instinct and winners head by winning many close matches such as the semifinal against Marco Templin.
After the 2008 EC he announced that this was his last major international tournament. But many Swedes hope for yet a Jesper comeback, maybe in Stockholm 2011. After all he still lacks an individual gold. Jesper was also voted in high ranks, 4 by the experts and 5 by the public at the Minigolfnews Dream Team 2008 votes.
