Gaby Rahmlow wins Danish Matchplay

The legendary Gaby Rahmlow, BGC Uerdingen, was the winner at this years Danish Matchplay played in Odense at the indoor eternit course of Putter Team Odense played on March 7th-8th.
The cup final against Erling Jensen of Putter Team Odense, was a tight game with leads to both sides. And after 17 lanes both players were even 2-2 but with an ace at lane 18 for Gaby Rahmlow and a bad first shot from Erling Jensen, the victory was a reality for one of the world’s most successful female minigolf players.
On her way to the final, Gaby Rahmlow beat Ole Rasmussen in the semifinal with 4-3. This match was as well as the final also open until lane 18. Erling Jensen beat the 2006 winner John Hansen of Minigolf Clubben Gelsted 3-2 in their semifinal.
In the B-category, the victory was also taken by a German player. Uwe Biermann of FC Union Ulzburg took an easy victory against Ib Bent Olesen of Odense Minigolf Club. Uwe Biermann had taken a 6-0 lead after 13 lanes and in this way making an early end of this final.
Both players had won their semifinals against two young but talented youth players, Torben Fjordvang of Aalborg Minigolf Klub and Nickolaj Andersen of Putter Team Odense.
The tournament was well visited by 53 players from Denmark and Germany.
29 players competed in the A-category and 24 in the B-category. After 5 preliminary rounds 16 players of each category qualified for the matchplay finals.
Best scores of preliminary rounds was for the A-category: Jan Lyø, Putter Team Odense, 21,00, Allan Schwab, Aalborg Minigolf Club, 21,2 and Udo Rathje, Niendorfer Minigolf Club, 21,8.
For the B-category it was Ib Bent Olesen, Odense Minigolf Club, 24,4 who shared this score with Henning Andersen, Putter Team Odense. Third was Peter Wichmann of Niendorfer Minigolf Club with 25,5.
In the tournament were also placed minor competitions, such as best score at the Loop, 10 aces all together at the Sandbox (with narrow ending) and the Midhill, and best score at the Window.
