The difficult felt course of Yalta took its toll at Ukrainian Championships 2009, causing dramatic score differences between players. The competition was played on 25-26 April 2009 at two minigolf courses: 4 rounds at the MOS course of Ai-Danil, and then 4 rounds at the Scandinavian felt course of hotel Massandra in Yalta.
The grand old man of Ukrainian minigolf, Vasili Brateyko, took gold in men’s competition with average score 36.38. 17 points behind Brateyko came silver medalist Alexander Novosad, with average 38.50. Bronze medalist Aleksei Gontarenko played average 41.38, losing 23 points to silver medalist Novosad. No less than 42 points behind Gontarenko came Alexander Neumiller in 4th place, with average 46.63.
Oksana Budyanu took gold in women, with average 54.60. Marina Novosad was second with average 59.60, and Svetlana Bogoslovskaya third with average 86.40.
Victory in juniors’ competition went to Nikita Gontarenko, with average 49.00. Pavel Bandurko was second with average 56.50, and Alexander Fedorenko third with average 60.50. » results of the competition » photo gallery of the felt course in Yalta
