Kent Minigolf Club wasted its home field advantage in the first ever Smeeth Cup, and lost to the visiting Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club with points 6 – 11.

The competition was played between two British minigolf clubs, with similar rules as golf Ryder Cup is played between USA and Europe: points are awarded to the teams from singles matches, foursomes matches, and fourball matches.

"Singles match" is a competition between two players, where the winner of each hole gets one point, and the total number of won holes decides the result of the match.

"Foursomes match" is a competition between two pairs, where the players in the same pair take turns playing every other shot in the match, with the same ball. Each hole is won by the pair that completes the hole in fewer shots.

"Fourball match" is a competition between two pairs, where all four players play their own ball, and each hole is won by the pair whose better player gets the lowest score for the hole.

The name "Smeeth" for this tournament comes from the name of a small village half-way between the towns of Kent and Hastings.
