After his victory 3 weeks ago in the french minigolf championships, Rémy Vallin (CGM Dijon) took only the 6th place at the Commelle-Vernay Minigolf Masters organized since 10 years by the MGC Rhodanien.
This time, the victory is for Philippe Lhéritier (MGC Rhodanien) and the match between Rémy and Philippe continue this year because they trust together, all the first place in France.
The principle of this tournament is to separate all the players in two individual groups and after two rounds, the top 3 of each group is selected. There are often a strong group and a weakess group and this year again, it was the case with a very strong A group and a weakess B group. After these 2 first rounds, all the non selected players are separate again in 2 others individual groups and after 2 others rounds, the 3 best players of each group are qualified. At this step, 12 players are qualified. After that, an additional round is done for all the non selected players and the 4 best results are selected. After that, it’s a match play system but with a system different to the system of the world championships. In our match play system, all the shots are important and at the end of the match play, we compare the real score of each player.
In Commelle-Vernay, there are some good local players able to beat all the players of the French minigolf team and it’s always difficult to win this tournament. As explain before, the final victory was for Philippe Lhéritier, 5 years after his last victory. Philippe defeats in final, his club friends Nicolas Fournier who reach for the first time the final, some weeks before discovering the world championships in Odense. During the Week-end, Nicolas defeats Yannick Pasquier, several time finalist of the Masters and also the actual French minigolf champion Rémy Vallin. Greg Mangier, the winner of the masters 2008 lost again Philippe Lhéritier.
For the third place, a quite surprising match between Jacques Gilliocq, the senior player of MGC Rhodanien always difficult to play on his home course, and Bernard Miviere of MG Samauritain and at the end, the third place is for Bernard Miviere, avoiding a podium 100% MGC Rhodanien.
Now, its’ time for the French minigolf player to prepare the different world championships and the national season will continue at the end of August in Mezilles with the third step of the French cup.
