Day 2 of Juniors European Championships

Germany 06 Aug 2009 at 14:32 | Published by: JJM | Views: 9407 | News search

Day 2 of Juniors European Championships Gerrit Britz of Germany continues on top at Juniors European Championships in Waldshut, Germany, with average 27.00 on beton and 21.67 on eternite. Second place in juniors, one point behind Britz, is shared by Roger Wicki and Kai Lödding (both from Switzerland).

In female juniors Jana Nakládalová fell to second place, after a day full of "red" round scores. Anne Hempel of Germany leads by 2 points, with average 28.00 on beton and 22.67 on eternite. Karin Heschl of Austria is third, one point behind Nakládalová.

In team competition of female juniors, Czech Republic fell from the top spot to tied second place with Austria. Germany now leads by 12 points, not enough to celebrate victory yet, as two rounds remain in the team competition. Sweden is 4th, 6 points behind Austria and Czech Republic, still perfectly within reach of silver or bronze medals. Switzerland has fallen from the battle for medals, now 16 points behind 4th place and 22 points behind a medal position.

In male juniors Germany and Sweden will decide the fate of gold and silver medals, Germany now leading Sweden by 8 points. Switzerland in third place, 24 points behind Sweden, must fight hard for a medal against Austria (4 points behind Switzerland) and Italy (5 points behind Austria).
