Brad Lebo won the 35th annual Elton Davis Memorial Classic, after tied score and play-off against Jeff Carr. Lebo and Carr played 8 rounds with total score 206 (average 25.75). Greg Newport and Allen Wall shared the third place with total score 208.
Elton Davis Memorial Classic is one of the oldest annual competitions in PPA tournament calendar, played every year since 1975. It is also considered one of the most prestigious competitions of the year, usually attracting the best players of the country.
The memorial tournament was founded in 1975, one year after the death of 22 years old PPA tour player Bennie Elton Davis. The young player Davis had qualified to PPA World Putting Championships, only a short time before his unexpected death. His prize money from the World Championships qualification was used to found this annual memorial tournament.
For many PPA players of the older generation, this annual tournament means much more than just trying to win some prize money. Ceremonies of the tournament weekend include a visit to the grave of Bennie Elton Davis, and a moment of silence in his memory at the minigolf course. » results of the competition » photo gallery of the two Putt-Putt courses in Burlington » news article in a local newspaper
