German championships of Cobigolf system and Miniaturgolf system were played last weekend in Magdeburg and Rauschenberg. (According to official WMF terms, both of these were MOS tournaments, as the eternite course of Magdeburg includes one non-standard lane, the Dromedar.)
Arranging these two "national championship" tournaments in late August, while the best players of Germany are performing their national team duties in Odense, underlines the class B status which these tournaments traditionally have in German minigolf life. Germany has only one widely respected national championship tournament: the Combi championships.
Gabriele Rahmlow made an exception to the rule that top-class players never participate in the "system championships" of Germany. She won women’s category (and everyone else too) at the eternite championships, with average score 21.80. Top-class junior player Anne Bollrich was second in women, with average 22.70, and Heike Listander-Teupe was third with average 22.90.
Top three in men was Achim Paulsen (average 22.40), Christian Spandau (22.80) and Norbert Kempa (23.00).
The Cobigolf championships in Rauschenberg did not include any internationally known names of the current generation of top players. Some old stars like Dirk Czerwek were present, however.
Sebastian Heine won men’s competition with average 23.80, Oliver Rathjens was second with average 24.40, and Dustin Raffler was third with average 25.40. Top three in women was Daniela Blieke (average 27.60), Steffi Tomkowitz (27.90) and Melanie Willfroth (28.40). » results of German eternite championships, Magdeburg » results of German Cobigolf championships, Rauschenberg » photo galleries and news reports
