Torgny Kjellström of Sweden won British Open 2009 at Strokes Adventure Golf course in Margate, with average score 33.14 after 7 rounds. Also places 2 – 4 went to Swedish players, as Johan Ahlander took the second place with average 34.14, after tied score and play-off against Björn Dinau. Yet another Swede Carl-Johan Spetz was fourth, after tied score and play-off against British player Tim Davies.
A British player has never won the British Open in the history of this tournament, which has been arranged every year since 2000. Tim Davies was very near victory in 2003, when he reached a tied score with the winner Christian Zimmermann (Germany), but lost the play-off for gold.
The best female players at British Open 2009 were Ruth Bullin (average 38.33) and Cindy Kukielka (average 45.17). No other women participated in the tournament.
