There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

17 aces in a row on felt as Elitserien starts in blue mood

17 aces in a row on felt as Elitserien starts in blue mood

Last weekend it showed as a clear fact that the newly built felt course in Tyresö was to be a journey into blue territory for the Swedish elite players. The course PAR was calculated to a record low 26,2 making it the easiest felt course outdoors in Sweden. So it was no surprise that it would be lots of blue colors on the scoreboard.

But after the first day of play on Saturday some remarkable records have been set. Maybe the most remarkable was the number of aces in a row scored on a felt course. On lap 2 and 3 Markus Karlsson of Jönköping scored no less than 17 aces in a row. That made on an outdoor felt course! On the third lap he also evened the current world record on one lap with 22 starting with 10 aces. He also made a 3 on the double-port on that lap.

Also the Swedish team record from 2007 on 139 strokes for a five man team was beaten already in the first match by Uppsala with 133. But already in the second round Uppsala made it even deeper into blue territory by an astonishing 130. Also Jönköping was under the record before today on in all but there first match with 135, 134 and 133 .

Some individual results is also worth noticing like Carl-Johan Ryner that started his day by making 23- 23. This is a new Swedish Record on two rounds and was evened by Markus Karlsson 24-22 completed and hour later.

Markus Karlsson also evened the record held by C-J on three rounds with his 72. Interestingly this guy was only substitute in Jönköpings first match this morning. In the last mach of the day he anchored his team.

Also Marcus Larsson and Anders Olsson both Uppsala, Erik Tiekstra of Tantogården and Magnus Westerberg of the home club Tyresö made a 23 round on the first day. Best individually was Markus Karlsson with 24,0 average.

This year’s Eliteserien is expected to be a very though year with only strong teams. And judging from the first day this seems to be correct. Tantogården didn’t play that well before the last match of the day against Uppsala where they gave the favorites there only loss. This match was the highlight of the day and Gustav Björnberg could secure the 1 stroke win to Tantogården in the match ending 133-134. Uppsala is though still on top with 6 points before Jönköping, Tantogården and Sjöviken also 6 points. Some interesting matchs to follow tomorrow.

Interesting news is that it was debut for live-reporting directly from the course through an iPhone out on Internet. Poul Keri from the home club was out on the course seeing what was happening and could tell how the situation was in each match. Below is the link to this report (Swedish Only).

You need to change a setting in BA to make it disregard the "diff" in the straight list.
Go to Tournament Settings and uncheck the "Difference" checkbox.

@JJM 6 lanes without green + middle hill and german ledge. The openings is not the minimum allowed, but not far from it. Only the bridge is clearly a lot wider than the minimum.
Three reasons for low scoring overall:
1. Easy to make a save for 2 after a missed shot on most lanes.
2. Several greens gave the opportunity to play on the side of the hole without or with little spin.
3. Two normally difficult lanes (double gate and boxes) were played with a slow direct shot.
With these parameters even minimum openings would result in low scoring.

@Nimalu. It was the latest version of BA. 0.9.40 is shown at the bottom of the results page. The change of the rule doesn't seem to have been implemented in the straight list when in league mode.

Maybe they used an old version of BangolfArena...?

I suppose in this Elitserien there is no official individual ranking list and no individual placings for players, so that's why the new rule does not apply?

By the way, the results list still uses "diff" for deciding the rank of players. I thought Sweden dumped the diff rule years ago.

So this is obviously an easy felt course, but exactly how easy...

How many lanes without green?
=>
What is the par of the course, when green = par 2, and without green = par 1?

How wide are the obstacles? Obviously nowhere near the smallest size allowed by rulebook.

Filiph Svensson made a 21 today. New Swedish record and 1 stroke below the current world record.
