A lot of rain showered down over Kuntzell as the fifth (of six) Bundesliga weekends was about to be played on Sunday. The reigning champions on the mens side Hardenberg and Göttingen on the ladies side had both a good opportunity to secure the Championship before the last round.
The Hardenberg men had already an 11 point lead and needed only to keep that distance down to SG Arheilgen. The Göttingen ladies had a 6 point advantage to last years winners Mainz and could by a victory in practice secure the title.
In the ladies the Göttingen ladies had a hard time to compete and especially when Bianca Oberweg had a really bad day at work they could only manage a 4rth position after the 3 rounds that the ladies played. In the mean while the hardest competitors for the title the Mainz girls played consistantly and won today’s round closing the margin down to only seven strokes and the same points.
Table after 5th round (ladies):
1 MGC Göttingen 1431 32
2 MGC Mainz 1438 32
3 MC Gull Cuxhaven 1530 15
4 MSC Auerbach Bensheim 1522 14
5 MSK Olching 1559 7
Best individually among the ladies where Alice Kobisch 1. MGC Mainz (32,7), Silvia Haller MSK Olching (35,3), Nicole Piechotta 1. MGC Göttingen (35,3) and Alexandra von dem Knesebeck 1. MGC Göttingen (35,3).
On the men’s side it’s seemed almost impossible for the Hardis not to secure the title after this fifth round with a normal Hardi round. Even if they had some trouble with a black round on the first lap they made a really sharp second round and was only one stroke after MGC Dormagen-Brechten at that stage. Sadly this second round was to be the last for the men due to the many rain interruptions so the Hardis could secure another 8 points and in total 44 points out of 50. But since they were in front of their main contender so-far Arheilgen it’s now a fact that no one could take the victory this year from Hardenberg. With one full round to go they have already secured the championships, exactly as they did last year.
Table after 5th round (men):
1 BGS Hardenberg Pötter 2456 44
2 SG Arheilgen 2527 31
3 MGC Dormagen-Brechten 2533 28
4 Niendorfer MC 2566 20
5 MGC Mainz 2584 15
6 Tempelhof MV 2714 12
Now the main excitement in the league is who will follow Hardenberg to the Europacup in Vienna Arheiligen or Dormagen-Brechten and what team will have to leave. All this will be decided in the last round on the Cuxhaven eternit the 19th of June.
Best individually this time among the men where Alexander Geist BGS Hardenberg - Pötter (26,5), Achim Braungart-Zink SG Arheilgen (27,0) and Kai Dorner MGC Dormagen-Brechten (28,5).
