On the third day of the Swedish Championships its by tradition most focus on the 3-men teams competition, since its ends after day 3. On the ladies side its also the qualifying competition for the European Cup, since the ladies don’t have a team league on their own in Sweden.
It was all along a rather close race between the two teams from Tantogården and Sjöviken. But with a good last day for Sjöviken the team from the south of Sweden could secure the victory. The Sjöviken team was two girl juniors and one old-timers lady. All three of them are quite given in the juniors and old-timers team from Sweden in August.
On the men’s 3-men Team it was surprisingly the small club of Mjölby in the top after two days. Mjölby has a team of highly qualified players and is amongst the top teams in the first division (the division under the Elitserien). But they were hunted by the more qualified teams of Tantogården, Sjöviken and Jönköping.
But the Mjölby Team played a good game today and the hunters didn’t quite catch up. So when the last player Andreas Fransson should play the last lane he had two strokes to go for gold. He made no mistake and the sensation was a fact.
Apart from Andreas the Mjölby team also included Anders Görlin and Ronnie Lundgren.
Individually the players of the third day where:
• Carl-Johan Ryner (47), Mads Nørregaard (49) and Daniel Källström (49) the only 3 men players with a double round under 50 today. Carl-Johan took over the lead.
• Sandra Bengtsson and Eva Andersson that in the ladies class with plays in a league of their own. Now it’s 15 strokes down to bronze for Eva who had to see Sandra take the lead by one stroke today.
• The best double rounds today were achieved by two juniors. Eirik Seljelid (26-20) and Sebastian Mårtensson (27 - 19 ). 19 is also the new course record of this eternit.
Morgan Munther of Sundsvall also manage a blue score today with 24 on the beton. Unfortunately he followed that up by a less good 25 on eternit.
All class leaders:
Men: Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala, 197
Ladies: Sandra Bengtsson, Uppsala, 214
Junior boys: Filiph Johansson, Sjöviken, 213
Junior Girls: Sara Karlsson, Olofström, 222
Oldtimer mens: Ronnie Lundgren, Mjölby, 207
Oldtimer ladies: Lena Nilsson, Sjöviken, 222
3-Men Teams Men (final result): Mjölby, 640
3-Men Teams Ladies (final result and also qualifying to the EC): Sjöviken, 688
