The winners Spescha and Vuilliomenet played an average score 22.13... on a beton course. Too good to be true? This is not an April Day’s hoax or a daydream. This is Teamgolf.

Teams of two players tour the minigolf course, but only one of them plays each lane. If they are unhappy with the score, the other player can play the same lane, trying to get a better score. Only the better score is counted in the final score.

Nearly anything is possible in Teamgolf — even rounds like 18 on beton or felt. (No one scored 18 in Bassersdorf this weekend, but people played several times 20, which would be the official world record of beton minigolf.)

But even if the round scores are sensational in Teamgolf, one thing remains the same: the best are still the best. The winning pair in Teamgolf 2008 was the same as in the marathon competition two months earlier in Bassersdorf: Vitus Spescha & Guy Vuilliomenet.

45 pairs competed in Bassersdorf Teamgolf 2008 — most of them from Switzerland, but also many international top players from Germany.
