The 40th edition of "Raiffeisen Trophae" in Algund has been played on a brand new course. The old course has been dismissed so now there's a new course, temporary installed in September on the main square of the town, which in the future will be definetely placed inside a sport centre next to a filzgolf course. 112 players from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy took part in the tournament.
This new course is quite difficult as every new course and also with some tricky lanes like the new "vulcano" circle and the "Salzburger-V" with very thin side passage (which had been the most difficult lane of this tournament with 2,06 average).
The tournament has shown a domination of German players with the overall victory of senior player and EMF Sport director Günther Schwarz (BGSV Kerpen) which played the 5 rounds with a total of 110 (22,00 avg) strokes, with ad advantage of 3 strokes on the 2nd senior player, Dieter Kaufmann (MGC Siusi) which got also the 2nd best overall result.
The winner of the men category, Alex Geist (BGS Hardenberg) was 7 strokes far away from the best overall. alex won the category with 117 (23,40 avg) strokes in a very close match with other 4 players. Josef Gumbiski (MGF Hammer) and Alex Lang (MV Algund) came just one stroke behind the winner, while Ralf Geissler (1.MGC Metzingen) and Andrea Origgi (GSP Cusano) ended just 2 strokes behind.
The team tournament was won, like the previous ones in Naturns and Lana, by the home team of AMV Algund (Roland Gasser, Roland Brunello, Alex Lang, Simon Brunner). They got a narrow victory of 6 strokes on MGF Hammer.
