Another victory for Cristian Pinton (MC Monza) on his home indoor course in Vedano al Lambro. He's surely the dominator of this winter season having won 3 out of 3 tournaments in Vedano during the last month.
This time, Cristian won the 1st day of TMC Challenge, an individual tournament played with the strokeplay system in which the top italian players have been invited by Italian Federation main sponsor, TMC Transformers spa, to challenge for interesting money prize awards: € 600,00 to the winner, € 1400,00 total money prizes.
Christian won the tournament beating in the final Roberto Alemanno (GSP Cusano), who surprisingly reached the final act coming from saturday qualifications, with a 6:4 score.
The 3rd place final has been won by Alberto Pirovano (MC Monza) on his team mate Gioachino Ricchiuto (MC Monza, coming from MGC Novi Ligure) with a 4:1 score. Alberto was defeated by Pinton in the semifinal, after having beaten the Senior european champion Antonella Flamini in the 1/4 finals.
Gioachino Ricchiuto had been surprisingly defeated in the semifinal by Roberto Alemanno, because he was 1 point ahead before the last lane, when he decided to play a "safe" shot (straight on lane 17). But he's got a "3" in that lane despite the "safe" choice and Roberto could easily tie the match and the win it at the playoff.
Many top players (like Anna Bandera, Rudi Giroldini, Francesco Leuci, Lorenzo Levis) had been kicked out during early stages of this tournament, as a tradition of this matchplay formula.
Next TMC challenge match will be played in Canegrate in April. At the end of that stage, the best 32 will get the cut to the final, that will be played in July on Palazzolo miniaturegolf course. » Results
