Junior girl Vanessa Peuker (Germany) was the best player of all categories, and another girl junior Annika Dellmann
(Germany) was tied second best player
in 10 rounds strokeplay, at Youth European Championships in Naturns, Italy on 10 - 13 August 2011.
This historical year of girlpower domination
on the international scene included also Katharina Benn (Germany) playing the best total score at Youth
Nations Cup two months
earlier.
Germany took 5 gold medals out of possible 6 in Naturns:
boys teams, girls teams, boys strokeplay, girls strokeplay, and girls matchplay. The only competition with a non-German
winner was boys matchplay, where Kevin Feuchtl of Austria won the final match against Robin Hettrich of Germany.
The girl juniors of Germany were simply unbeatable in Naturns: the four participating German girls took places 1 - 4
both in strokeplay and in matchplay, and they naturally won the team competition with a big margin.
In junior boys the German domination was less dramatic, Sweden lost the team competition to Germany
with a relatively narrow margin, 13 points only. German boys ended up in places 1, 3, 5, 10, 12, 21 and 24
in strokeplay, not an immortal performance from this traditionally strong minigolf country.
