Jeffrey Smith wins PPA Texas Open

Jeffrey Smith, from Dallas, Texas won the 2010 PPA Texas Open held August 21-22 at the beautifully maintained Putt-Putt Golf & Games in Tyler, Texas. Smith finished the eight round, 144 hole medal play event 63 under par, 225. Rainey Statum, from Huffman, Texas finished second, two shots back. Smith earned $504 USD for the win, his 50th career victory on the Texas/Western Tour, tied with Statum for most all-time. Statum earned $374 for second place. The top six finishers got paid.
First day leader Wade Sahmel, from Huffman, Texas struggled Sunday on the difficult Tyler layout. He finished in fifth place with 232.
