The Italian minigolf season has started as ever with the 10 rounds night pair marathon in Vedano al Lambro.
The "Nissan Trophy" has come at its 17th edition: it started in 1997 as a free tournament is now one the of most important points of meeting of international minigolf.
Thanks to the hard job of Alberto Pirovano during these years, now we have players coming from 11 countries taking part in this minigolf event! Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Portugal, France and Russia are the represented countries at this tournament.
And year by year the startlist is more and more qualified, with many of the best European players coming to play the tournament.
This higher level is shown by the results: this year we had 9 pairs playing under 26 average and for the first time the winning pair broke the long waited record of the "blue" total score on the 10 rounds.
The winning team of this edition has been Boris Arzuffi (MT Amatese) / Paolo Porta (MGC Novi Ligure) , a team born in the last days before the tournament, because both would have played with another mate that could not come to play the tournament.
They totalized a score of 249 strokes, 24.9 average, just one stroke below the "green" average.
Paolo and Boris played a very regular tournament, with similar scores: Paolo, 149 in 6 rounds (24.8); Boris, 100 in 4 rounds (25.0).
They got the victory with just two stroked over GSP Vergiate mixed Austria/Italy team, Christian Gobetz and Roberto Garbui ; 4 strokes on GSP Cusano team Emanuele Prestinari and Giuseppe Rubini ; 5 strokes on the 2011 winning team Cristian Pinton and Roberto Mariani .
The last round expecially offered some great minigolf moments: from the backside, Emanuele Prestinari and Cristian Pinton tried to catch the first two team both playing a 22. In the while, Paolo Porta had to manage 2 strokes advantage on Christian Gobetz and both played a 23 round. It seemed more like a final round on a miniaturegolf course!
The best foreing team, Sascha Mark /Christopher Jack (BGC Singen) got a 5th place with 256 strokes, followed by Guenther Inmann / Katerina Tietzova (Dornbirn/Brno) that ended 7th with 258 strokes.
The winning team of last edition, Antonella Flamini / Gino Ferri, could reach only a 10th place this year.
The best individual player of the tournament is the young but no more surprising Emanuele Prestinari (GSP Cusano): 145 strokes in 6 rounds, with an average of 24,2. Emanuele, which played very well also the week before in Quartino (Switzerland) can now compete for the victory in every tournament, despit of his young age being only 17.
Also a great performance by Christian Gobetz, who came in Vedano for the first time, expecially to learn the course for the Italian League day that will be played here in March, and could immediately score a "blue" average with 147 strokes in 6 rounds.
These are the top 10 individual players of the tournament:
