Hot on the heels of their successes in the weekends' British Championships, two members of the 2013 Great Britain Minigolf squad, James Rutherford (British Champion) and Sean Homer (British Senior Champion) will be taking part in the first World Minigolf Sport Federation (WMF) International event of the year - the Nations Cup, in Bad Münder, Germany across the 18th and 19th May.
Players from eight countries - Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Switzerland and the World Champions Sweden - will be competing in the tournament held on the two 18-hole Minigolf courses (owne by the German Minigolf Sport Federation - DMV).
Sean, the Chairman of the BMGA and ranked 3rd in the UK order of merit, will be making his sixth appearance for the Great Britain Minigolf Sport Team and James, the BMGA's Club Officer, ranked 4th in the order of merit will be making his fourth international appearance.
"We were both keen to take part in the Nations Cup this year", said Sean "as not only is it an honour to turn out for your country but it also plays an important part in our International teams preparation for the World Championships taking place in Bad Münder in August on the same courses. We have a full team of seven taking part in August and we are determined to put in our strongest showing to date on the International stage. All of our top players are in the squad this year and getting some early insight into the courses by playing in the Nations Cup is vital for our development as a team. And both of us are in strong form having picked up British titles at the Championships last weekend and cannot wait to get to the courses in Germany later this week!"
The Great Britain squad will be taking on all comers in a number of events this season. As well as the Nations Cup, Great Britain will be competing in the World Adventure Golf Masters in Hastings, the WMF Youth Championships in Portugal before taking a full strength mens team to Germany in August to compete against the best teams in the World at the WMF World Championships.
The Great Britain kit for the Nations Cup will be supplied by UrbanCrazy.
