World Minigolfsport Federation has appointed Willy Bauer (Austria) as the new Media Manager, since November 2008.
The previous Media Manager, Walter Teupe of Germany, stepped down from the position in the spring of 2008.
The global and European minigolf federations (WMF and EMF)
are planning to have one united media strategy. The new media team
of WMF and EMF consists of Kristiána Kirša of Latvia
(EMF Media Manager), Willy Bauer of Austria (WMF Media Manager)
and Richard Gottfried of Great Britain (WMF media committee member).
Willy, Kristiána and Richard will provide help and advice to the national federations,
also producing promotional and educational material about minigolf. But the practical
media and PR work still needs to be done by national federations themselves.
The international media team cannot possibly have the time, funds and local knowledge
to do all PR work in all countries.
The media team plans to start running an international
minigolf news service. Their website should be online by the end of February 2009.
Link to the news service will be published at the official websites of WMF and EMF.
But again, the media team cannot possibly notice everything what is happening
in international minigolf. The news service will need news updates from national federations
and competition organizers.
On 28-29 March 2009, WMF invites the biggest member nations to a
media and marketing workshop in Frankfurt/Offenbach, Germany, hosted by
the newly-established Swedish Media Group. Another workshop will be later arranged
for the smaller nations, as their practical problems and financial
possibilities are quite different.
The media team looks forward to Odense World Championships as the main event of the year 2009.
Willy, Kristiána and Richard will work closely with the organizers,
taking care of the ceremonies and media work during the tournament, to ensure that
minigolf will be seen in the best possible light by the media, sponsors and general public.
