Dutch league about to adapt Swedish system?

The board of the Dutch Minigolf Federation (FNMB) has finalized a proposal to change the regulations and thereby playing system of the Dutch premier league, Landelijke Hoofdklasse (LHK).
After years of playing with mixed 4+1 team competition, the clubs and sports committee of the FNMB wants to change to the Swedish match-play system already upcoming season. Reason is that the old system lost his charm to most competitors as it is the same situation each year.
After reading about the Swedish System, Piet Tiekstra (Top-sport coordinator and replacing President of the FNMB) made a proposal which has been accepted by the clubs competing in the LHK. At the extra meeting for members of the FNMB on 31 january 2009 it will be possible for the clubs to vote for the change.
Tiekstra writes at the FNMB's website "Up to now the title of the LHK basically had no value. In all sports the champion of the highest league will be send to the European Cup to fight for the European title in club teams. With minigolf we no longer want to run behind other sports."
Some future changes in the FNMB(?):
- The LHK will be played with mixed 6(+1) teams
- The winner of the LHK will be representing the Netherlands at the European Cup
- Teams will play against all other teams ones in each weekend according to the Swedish Match-play rules
- Women teams will play a special competition during the Dutch Combi Championships
In the Netherlands it is possible to be member two different clubs at the same time. One to play competition and one to play (individual) championships and tournaments with.
Dates of the competition are: 5 April, 3 May, 10 May, 17 May and 28 June. It is still unknown at what courses the LHK will be played.» Changes in the regulations (Dutch)

Your're the one with the short memory i think. First of all it was only suggested to the teamcoaches. (teamplayers weren't at this meeting) Second. where do you get the idea that it is possible to play with 6+1 when you have only left 25 players??? Third the reason why i vote for 3 players is in my comments here So please read better.

Last year after the last competition day all teamcaptains were positive about these changes. When we started with the LHK 12 years ago we did it with the knoledge that the winner of the LHK would represent our country at the EC.
We agreed to start with 4 players and grow to 6 in a few years. Finally after 12 years we have the opportunity to do it knowing all the teams supported the changes.
Maybe you support smaller teams because there are only 3 people who want to play with you?? |

I don't think it will be a good idea, because the EC is played with 6+1 (men) and 3+1 (ladies), some clubs will be able to make a good team out of 3 players, but 6 or 7 (reasonable) players from the same gender is a big problem.
The idea is possible, but then you must keep the seperate (6+1 and 3+1) Championships alive. |

A lot of people had of maybe still have negative thoughts about the LHK through the years. These thoughts are mostly created by these sort of things in their opinion, that the LHk creates it's own rules... and doesn't have to care about the other regional competitions etc. etc.
This was and I think still is the perfect oppurtunity to make everything clear and transparant for all members / clubs which are member of the FNMB and maybe have doubts about it. But I think this can turn out to be a missed chance ! |

Thank you. A team with 3 players only is the best possible solution to make this league exiting enough. Less players means tougher competition. Perhaps members of the LHK teams can discuss that before going to the meeting. I believe a few LHK players are coming to the the Appelscha tournament this weekend. Perhaps it is a good idea to make it possible to talk about it ??? Its just a suggestion :-) (don't know if dutch players read this besides ET and EJM) |

14 Jan 2009 at 14:32 | Well... I don't know if that is the reason. But what I can remember is that a couple of years ago we tried to change some things in the way the league was played. But people who never even watched how the LHK was played and who will never decide to play in it can decide about the LHK it's fate.
Personally I think that is strange. |
