2 minor indoor competitions were played last weekend in Austria. Both are regarded as practice competitions for following high-level events.
Eferding:
One was played in Eferding, where 57 players played to win the 3rd “Pizzapreis”. On this course, the next round in Austrian “Bundesliga” will be played in March, so some Austrian top players used this event to test themselves. But best player was the German Günter Schwarz from Kerpen scoring an average of 20,75 in 4 rounds to win veterans category, followed by best Austrian player on this day, Franz Berger, 2 strokes behind.
Best player in mens category was the local hero Mike Zojer, who mastered a score of 87. He was 3 strokes ahead of the former European Champion Heinz Weber. The only “18” round was finished by Marcus Lichtenberger from Steyr.
Bad-Vöslau:
On the second event (Bad-Vöslau Open), which was used to practice for the “Bundesländercup” (regions cup) in February, one man totally outplayed all other 100 competitors. National team player Manfred Lindmayr from Vienna scored fantastic 56 in 3 rounds. 18-19-19 which made an average of 18,66. It was his 14th round of 18 on this course, which he calls his “Living room”. Finally he had an incredible advantage of 7 strokes to his teammates in the national team: Herbert Ziegler (Gänserndorf) and Markus Berger (Tantogårdens BGK). 2nd best result on this day was played by the veteran Günter Würrer (Gänserndorf) with an average of 20,00. Manfred Lindmayr´s girlfriend, also known as world champion 2007, Lisa Gruber, won womens category to finalize a perfect day for Manfred.
