Anders Olsson receives "Elitidrottsstipendiet"

This evening at the grand Swedish Sports Gala (Idrottsgalan), Anders Olsson Uppsala BGK received a scholarship price called Elitidrottsstipendiet. The price is at 40 000 SEK and is meant to help Elite Athletes combine studies at University level with the life as an elite athlete.

The Gala was send in Swedish television and has many other winners as "Best male athlete ", "Best female athlete", "Best team" and "Best achievement". In a year of the Olympic games the Olympic sports tends to dominate these galas, even if Sweden had a particular poor Olympic Games 2008.

The finest price of the year was the Peoples Choice of Athlete 2008 and it was won by Cross Country Ski athlete Charlotte Kalla.

Worth noting is that several other Swedish minigolf players have received this scholarship through the years, I think I could name at least 5 or 6. Which shows that at least some people consider minigolf to be a professional sport and that we should be proud and not try to hide away in the countryside like we do now..... And of course, congrats to Anders!!
