The third day of the German Bundesliga has been played today at Niendorfer MC eternit course in Hamburg. The weather was not the best in the morning hours and the start was delayed due to rain. Because of this the men could only play 3 out of the planned 4 rounds. The ladies managed to play all 4 rounds.
The ladies of Göttingen where closing in on the leaders of Mainz by taking the victory today. Mainz came in second and is keeping the overall lead with two points before Göttingen. Best individually among the ladies was Bianca Oberweg of Göttingen. Bianca who had a relatively weak 2008 seems now to be back in good shape for the 2009 season.
The mens league was once again won by Hardenberg, but it was close. MGC Dormagen-Brechten was only two strokes behind after the 3 rounds. Hardenberg won today not on top performance individually but on the robustness of the team. All 6 except Mike Mann have scores between 63 and 65 on the 3 rounds. Harald Erlbruch didn’t have one of his best days with a last round of 25. He was nevertheless scoring 64 after 20 and 19 in the two first rounds.
Best individually was tied on 61 strokes between Max Hermann of Mainz and Alexander Jasper, the Dutch national team player playing for Dormagen-Brechten. Max scored one of only two 18 rounds this weekend, the other made by Kris Stille of the home club. Marcel Noack, Mainz, started with 19 on the first round and had an opportunity to lower this on the second round. But a 3 on the 18th lane (the flash) and the perfect 18 was gone.
