The first day of Seniors European Championships offered a new world record in 2 rounds of beton minigolf (Bongni standard), 45 points, as Francesco Leuci of Italy scored his three competition rounds 23 19 22 (B + E + B).
The obviously very easy beton course of Lamego gave 12 "blue" round scores (under 25 points) during the day. Tommy Blixt of Sweden equalled the old world record of 2 rounds beton, 46 points, with his two beton rounds 22 + 24.
We may possibly witness yet more world records taken into senior hands, as the tournament continues during the next three days. Leuci must play his next beton round 24 or better, or Tommy Blixt must play 23 or better, to break the 3 rounds world record 70 points.
Top three in senior men, after 3 rounds (B + E + B): Francesco Leuci (Italy) 64, Tommy Blixt (Sweden) 68, Reinhard Schuster (Austria) 70.
Top three in senior women, after 3 rounds (E + B + E): Linda Lundberg (Sweden) 67, Greta Janssens (Belgium) 72, Bernice Thors (Sweden) 73.
