This years Swedish Mixed Championship was played at an indoor course in Vinslöv, south of Sweden. Unlike last year, when the Championship was played on eternite in wellknown MunktellArena in Eskilstuna, this year there was played on a pretty difficult felt course. Difficult in a matter of obstacles with minimum measures everywhere, combined with some heavy slopes. Though, when clearing all the obstacles, it was pretty easy to ace most courses. Therefore the difference between the really high level couples and the others was quite big.
In the general class, 2 youngsters, Jim Oscarsson/Sara Karlsson (Sjöviken IF/Olofströms BGK) started with a round of 23, which turned out to be the best round of the weekend. Though, as the competition went on, Martin Sjöberg and his girlfriend Natalie Andersson (BGK Jönköping) took over and won comfortably with an average of 28,4 over the 8 rounds. Unfortunately for Jim/Sara, they were beaten just before the finish line also by Fredrik Persson/Jessica Rengbrandt (Granhyddans BGK), who finished with a round of 25 and took the silver medals. Jim/Sara had to step down to 3rd place on the podium, still though a good effort by those young players.
In the seniors class, the favorites were Jan-Åke Persson/Annika Johansson (Sjöviken IF). But it is not always easy to carry the burden of being favorites and it was first after the last but one round, when they took the lead, but after that, nothing could stop them, winning with an average of 33,6. By the way, Sjöviken IF dominated the podium as Kenneth Granholm together with Pia Karlsson (Olofströms BGK) took the silver and Mats Olsson/Lena Nilsson took the bronze. » Results » Pictures at the homepage of Sjövikens IF
